Kaladze Facing Long Lay-Off
There are fears that Milan defender Kakha Kaladze could face a long period on
the sidelines following his injury last night.
Kaladze started yesterday’s UEFA Cup first round second leg match against FC
Zurich in Switzerland but was forced off with a knee injury after just
half-an-hour, and had to be replaced by Paolo Maldini.
Milan have since issued a statement on their official website, which reads: “
After coming off the pitch in the first half due to injury, Milan's medical
staff have found a problem to the ligament in his left knee. In the next hours
the defender's conditions will be evaluated further.”
Kaladze is now certainly out of this weekend’s trip to Cagliari, and the
latest reports in Italy are that he could be out of action for a considerable
amount of time.
This is bad news for the Georgian who, after a slow start to this campaign, had
just recently found his feet, and had performed admirably in the 1-0 derby win
over Inter last Sunday night.
With Philippe Senderos still injured, and Alessandro Nesta not fit enough yet
to return, Daniele Bonera will partner Maldini at centre back against Cagliari.
