Replayers水友和Grubby的问答~~!(纯英语,不喜勿进)Welcome MYM|Grubby,
Do you mind introducing yourself a bit for the unknowing users?
Sure np, my name is Manuel Schenkhuizen, I'm 22 years old and I'm a Dutchie. I've been playing Warcraft III for about 6 years now (wow, has it been that long? ).
haha, yeah time goes past way to quick when you're young!
We've asked the users from that very site to post questions, which we would then pick to ask you. Are you ready for the first one?
Sure, fire away!
A question from FrashQ:
What was the reaction of your friends and family when you had your first big succes in a major tournament with big prizes involved?
Ah, well I don't remember how they reacted when I won the infamous Cyber X Games... I never got the first prize for that tourney so I kinda got traumatised and blocked it out of my memory i think... but when I won the WCG in 2004, I was in Korea. It was really weird, because I couldn't go home and cheer with them.. after San Francisco I went back to Korea and stayed there for 2 months more.
when I came home, my mom organised a welcoming party with some old school friends, and family came later. I remember I was quite embarassed because I lost like 5kg in Korea (as we couldn't cook). But they were all really happy for me (keeping in mind we had to keep our cheering in check for 2months).. I guess then we all realised I could go on to play for a bit more.
Did you call them right after the event? Or was it days later or even not at all? Did they give any reaction if so?
I think I phoned them using someone else's phone while I was still in USA I felt really strange, like it was all happening so fast and people were dragging me left and right by the arm to go into this and that room... I think I just said, "Hi mom.. I won.." and she went bazooka. I'm not that easily excitable so it was nice hearing her go crazy, it made me realise what I had just done =)
A question from Plow:
If you could return to the very first game you played in wc3, would you start over and try to be where you are now? Or would you consider school or something entirely different? Also if you where to start over, knowing what you know now.. would you still pick orc to master?
I think i would try to put my current knowledge of the game into practice there, because there was so much that we didn't know yet back then! I'd have such an unfair advantage, haha although I'd probably get flamed for using knowledge of the future and "laming" with it... "you may not use that info for another 6 years!". And it'd probably be useless to argue because they'd kinda be right..
But I would've done nothing differently =) I'm really happy with the choices that I've made.
Very understandable.
Next question!
Bas:
What is the source of your motivation to continue playing, in terms of fun and actual meaning?
For me, Warcraft III is a huge part of my life. I get to travel lots of places, play my favourite game, and it's full of challenges. Whenever a new player comes, he brings something refreshing to the game. His own style. I try to figure out people and take them out. Above all I want to win, but it's not always easy. I also make a decent living and I've met my girlfriend thru WC III. I've got a lot to be thankful for.
Next question from Rarum:
How did it feel when you played Moon or anyone you really looked up 2 for the very first time? What goes through your mind at that particular moment?
The first time I played Moon... that was on ladder at the end of 2004 or something and then I played him some in training games too, and in Ongamenet league, and in MBC prime I was extremely nervous and didn't play very well in MBC. In ongamenet I got XP tome so I felt naturally I should be able to rush and win, but I couldn't... I was very frustrated!
I learned what it felt like to play someone really, really good, and I don't think I enjoyed the lesson at the time. It's not fun to play someone you always lose to =p took me a while to get over that syndrome
Heh, the first time you beat Moon, did you show a lot of excitement then? Or was it professional and moving on?
The first time I beat moon I just jumped on the table and showed no inhibitions =D I guess I bursted like a champagne cork because years of oppression had ended...
OrcSetsRules asks:
Many think that wc3 will become less and less ‘active’ in the near future with sc2 getting released, where do you see yourself without wc3, would you continue gaming as in playing games competitively, or do you have other plans in real life, do you see yourself as a gamer or in the game world for your entire life?
Hahahah.. you think SC2 will get released in the near future? How could you tell that? As far as I can tell, Blizzard will take its time like they always do. No point fussing about it now.. That's pretty much my philoshopy anyway.. no point worrying about such things right now, just make the best possible choice for myself every time when I need to make it.. and not before.
Nearly everyone is asking how to become the best. Now i think you'll say practise makes perfect along with the will to win and become better, as genually every professional gamer says the same.
I think the question they really want to get answered is : How do you practise? Are there certain techniques or 'ways' in which you maximise the time used?
Hehe =) you only really know what it means if you are in the position, I guess. Yes, you train hard, yes you have to use your time the best way, and NO you can't force genious revelations at every point So you try any way you know how to be the most efficient and creative as you can be.
hopefully you won't face any surprises. Your training is perfect when you know exactly what you are preparing for. Sometimes you don't and then you have to approach the practice more liberally: how to get the best out of me in a situation where I don't know what I will face?
That concludes the questions! I hope you’ve enjoyed that and to close this interview I had a small word game in mind. The usual but always fun! Here goes:

Any last shout outs to the thousands of fans or to anyone else?
I would like to tell the readers that Oscar was very, very nervous before and while doing this interview. But I think we can all applaud him and say he did a tremendous job, can't we? Even if he asked the same question twice in a 3 -minute span. He should do more interviews! Thanks for reading everyone!
